Prof. Dr. Alexander Mädche

This job position is offered in cooperation with SAP and is set up for three years. Overall, the PhD project is aimed to contribute to knowledge at the intersection of Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction and Business Process Management.

The PhD project aims to design, study and evaluate interactive ML systems in the area of process analytics as current literature lacks validated design principles for such systems, nor considers the impact of the resulting systems on users. From a methodological perspective, we target to test different design alternatives of interactive ML systems by conducting large scale experiments in the field and lab leveraging various data sources including participants’ responses to survey questions, performance indicators, physiological data, as well as gaze patterns stored by eye-tracking devices. As experimental lab infrastructure, the Karlsruhe Decision & Design Lab (KD2Lab) will be used – one of the largest computer-based experimental laboratories in Europe, particularly suitable for studying human behavior and decision-making in complex and dynamic setups.

Further information and the possibility for application can be found via the link to the job posting provided above.
