  • Problem Description

Effective and efficient collaboration is an essential requirement for companies for successful competition and being productive. In a digitalized working environment collaboration tools, like Slack, Calendar apps, CAM systems, or any form of tools, are crucial for successful collaboration and thus also for the success of the company. Unfortunately, there is unmanageable amount of tools for collaboration existing on the market. The selection of the right tools for the specific application that is tailored to the needs and actually works, is very difficult. Big players with a lot of resources like e.g. Daimler, Siemens, or Samsung are able to buy their personalized solution or even develop their own tool. Smart and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME), the backbone of the Germany economy, do not have the resources to do so.

Often these companies therefore use the wrong tools, which leads to a worse company result and even endangers their existence. It is therefore important to give SMEs the opportunity to provide the right tools for specific use cases. Since not always only one specific tool is used, the aim of this work is to identify use cases of SME collaboration and provide the SMEs with different selections of tools through a quantitative survey of SMEs.

For conduction, this thesis can build upon previous work, which is displayed on the already existing website (www.collaborationkit.org).

    Goals of this Thesis

    • Development of Use-Cases of SMEs and sets of collaboration technologies
    • Development and broadcasting of survey regarding the needs for collaboration tools of companies
    • Analysis of survey and matching with existing solutions (which have already been defined)
    • Basic inclusion of this functionality on launched website (www.collaborationKit.org)

By conducting these steps, SMEs are provided with individualized suggestions of selections of collaboration tools for specific Use-Cases. This is an important contribution to the successful cooperation of SMEs.
