Successful Completion of the Engineering Interactive Systems Capstone Project in cooperation with ABB

  • Date: 02.02.2024
  • The end of the winter semester also marks the successful end of this year’s Engineering Interactive Systems: AI & Wearables (EIS) capstone project, which was conducted as part of the EIS master lecture. Over a period of three months, the students worked in teams on a real-world challenge provided by our industry partner ABB. The overall goal and topic of this year’s project was to design adaptive operator management systems leveraging biosignal & interaction data. In a first step, the students visited the EnBW power plant operator room to build empathy with the target group. Subsequently, biosignal & interaction data were collected by all participating students by interacting with a simulation environment of ABB in our lab. This included eye-tracking, heart activity using Smartwatches as well as further interaction data. Subsequently, the student teams analyzed this data, developed models, and suggested designs of biosignal-based adaptive interventions.  We want to thank all students and colleagues from ABB involved in this exciting project!
